However, according to a teaser for the next episode of the ITV2 contest, he takes things up a notch by leaning in for a kiss with Joanna as a potential dumping or recoupling looms.
The clip played at the end of tonight’s instalment saw the pair sitting outside in the evening, sharing some alone time.
“If I went to kiss you now would you stop me?” Michael could be seen asking.
“Probably not,” Joanna replied as the pair then leaned in for a smooch while their fellow Islanders looked stunned.
Michael’s actions over the past few days have rocked many fans of the show as they’ve been rooting for him and Amber as a couple.
Those watching at home were completely outraged by Michael’s move on the show and have vented on social media.
“Nah that’s it Michael you are officially cancelled cant wait to VOTE YOU OUT #LoveIsland,” one said.
Another declared: “NAH I WANT MICHAEL OUT ARE YOU MAD WHAT WAS THAT PREVIEW #LoveIsland.”
“Michael turned from my favourite to my least favourite very fast #loveisland,” a third said.
While a fourth added: “I want Michael out of the villa right now #LoveIsland.”
“I’m sooo disappointed in Michael I wanted him and Amber to be together #LoveIsland,” a fifth tweeted.
The turnaround is especially shocking as Amber is remaining loyal to Michael over in Casa Amor.
However, not all fans share the same opinion as some are rooting for Michael and Joanna.
“Go on Michael lad! #Loveisland,” one exclaimed.
Another commented: “Unpopular opinion: I’m not mad at Michael for turning. He has recognised unhealthy aspects of his relationship with Amber and he’s doing what’s best for him. It’s a shame the circumstances are just brutal for Amber #LoveIsland.”
“Sorry but.. clearly Michael isn’t that happy with Amber, and its nice to see him actually happy with someone he doesn’t have to work so hard for. Also, Curtis should not get back with Amy #LoveIsland,” a third opined.
It’s not only Michael who looks to be moving on either in tomorrow’s episode.
Curtis could also be seen chatting with Jourdan Riane, saying: “Right at this second I’d choose you.”
“Are you sure?” Jourdan replied, but Curtis’ response is yet to be revealed.
Love Island continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2.
