Logan INTERVIEW: Old Man Logan's Steve McNiven shares ideas for after Wolverine EXCLUSIVE

Earlier this year Jackman bowed out as Wolverine in Logan, the first 15-certificate X-Men movie.

Marvel fans will know the film was inspired by the iconic comic book Old Man Logan, set in a dystopian future where Wolverine is elderly and America has been conquered by the Avengers’ enemies.

The story was written by Mark Millar (Kick-Ass, Kingsman: The Secret Service), with his Civil War artist, Steve McNiven – who has drawn extensively for many major comic books.

Now in an exclusive interview to promote the home release of Logan, McNiven has given his thoughts on how an X-23 movie could work.

X-23 aka Laura, is the cloned daughter of Wolverine, who was played by Dafne Keen in Logan.

Following – fans have been wondering if she’ll return for her own solo movie.

Having worked on a number of Wolverine comics, McNiven said: “I’d love to see more X-23 – one hundred percent. The only difficult would be that you would have to continue in the future [because Logan is set in 2029].”

“And if you had her get even older then that would be even more in the future and although that works really well, I think sometimes it can be a bit of a stretch for audiences to engage in the dystopian future.

“I’m for it. I think it would be a lot of fun. It would be cool if they could some bring X-23 into just the modern time. But what a great actress!”

McNiven’s talents have now been used for a special edition Blu-ray steelbox release of Logan, for which he drew Jackman’s Wolverine and Keen’s X-23 for its cover.

Also a mural inspired by this piece has been spray-painted on a wall in Shoreditch, London to celebrate Logan’s home release.

A video of the whole process can be watched at the top of the article.

Logan’s director James Mangold recently revealed to ScreenRant his vision for an X-23 spin-off.

He said: “A very honest film about young people, is what I’d say – a very honest film about young people growing up.”

LOGAN is available on Digital Download now and on Blu-ray™ and DVD on 10th July from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.
