Line of Duty season 4: When will Vicky McClure drama return? BBC confirm air date

The broadcaster also revealed that the series will be moving channel and into a new time slot. 

After impressive viewing figures for previous seasons, bosses have decided that the show deserves the Sunday night slot on One. 

The drama, which follows DS Kate Fleming and her team will return to television screens on March 26 at 9pm. 

The BBC confirmed the news on the official Line of Duty Twitter account, much to delight of fans. 

The series, which has already been renewed for a fifth outing, welcomes Thandie Newton to the cast as DCI Roz Huntley.

Her character will fall under suspicion of AC-12 due to her handling of intense case, Operation Trapdoor. 

The news comes after Vicky, who plays DS Kate, said that there was “pressure” on the show to perform well and attract a large number of viewers. 

“There was always going to be pressure for it to be good, even if it was staying on BBC Two,” she told the Daily Star. 

“There’s an anticipation to make sure we keep the same standard. Hopefully we’ve done that. Jed Mercurio is an incredible writer. 

“There is a real style now on Line of Duty with the long interrogation scenes. He manages to build tension in a way that really grips.”

The actress also revealed that as the stars receive their scripts in stages. 

Line of Duty returns on March 26 on BBC One at 9pm.
