The early morning TV war steps up tomorrow at 7am when Sky News’s Kay Burley@Breakfast takes to the airwaves. As Brexit comes to the boil, channel bosses think it’s the perfect time to have their star name hosting a new show from the heart of Westminster. But Kay says it’s not just MPs who will be running scared – Piers Morgan should be worried too.
She told the Sunday Express: “The bad boy of breakfast has had all of his own way for far too long. It’s my turn to make politicians’ blood run cold.”
Morgan has been a morning menace for politicians on Good Morning Britain since 2015.
His combative interview style and love-hate relationship with co-host Susanna Reid helps the show hit the headlines, with clips “going viral” most mornings.
Now, with rumours that he is about to head Down Under for the up-coming series of I’m A Celebrity…, Kay says she’s ready to steal his thunder.
She said: “While Piers is potentially away chewing on kangaroo anus in the jungle, I plan to wine and dine with the movers and shakers of Westminster!”
The agenda-setting two-hour show, from Monday to Thursday each week, sees her move from her afternoon slot on Sky News.
