Clary married his long-term partner Ian Mackley in November last year but has chosen to keep the details of their relationship private.
However, during his appearance on the ITV show, the Loose Women – which consisted of Andrea McLean, Katie Price, Jane Moore and Anne Diamond – couldn’t help but try and squeeze out all of the juicy details.
“And you got married, didn’t you?” Moore probed, before reaching over to touch his wedding ring.
“Don’t finger my ring,” he comically teased.
McLean interrupted: “If a lady wants to compliment your ring, let her.”
Clary explained: “What’s funny about being a comedian is you can turn your whole life into a product and have your family in programmes. It may not always suit your partner because they can want to be a private person.”
Price interrupted: “Or get dragged into it where there’s a paycheque.”
“How do you manage that then Julian?” pondered McLean.
“It’s a learning curve,” Clary admitted. “I try not to talk about him too much so I’m being a little it reticent and hoping we will move on.”
“We’re just glad you’re happy,” McLean insisted, before gracefully obliging. “We will spare your blushes and we will move on.”
Also in today’s eventful Loose Women, Charlotte Crosby addressed her recent feud with Janet Street-Porter, vowing to “bury the hatchet”, but admitting it was a good job she wasn’t there.
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
