John Lewis Christmas advert 2017 leak: Release date to be EARLIER than expected

The department store’s official Twitter page sent people into meltdown this morning by announcing it was coming “soon”.

“We’ll soon be sharing our Christmas ad with you right here on Twitter, stay tuned…” the online post read cryptically.

The upload included snapshots of their past offerings, reminding their 355,000 followers of some of the most memorable festive commercials of all time.

It included Buster the Boxer, Man On The Moon, Monty the Penguin, The Bear and the Hare and The Journey, complete with an adorable snow couple.

Their message quickly caused a stir with many replying with excited gifs, with one reading: “And then it’s officially Christmas.”

Two other continued: “Yay! #JohnLewisChristmasAdvert #LastChristmas, this Christmas & every Christmas… always the best ad & the start of Christmas,”(sic) and: “Can’t wait, hopefully it’s by the time kids come out of school – they’re so excited to see it.”

It comes after after a new Twitter account under the name @UnderTheBed2017 popped up a couple of days ago.

The profile has no official affiliation to John Lewis, but many flocked in their thousands to the four-second clip of some eyes looking around, believing it to be the first clue at what to expect.

The anticipation around the advert is already at an all-time high, with stats released revealing one in six have changed their plans to watch its first showing.

Their first ever advert to gain the attention of the British public was the 2007 advert Shadows which saw the shadow or a woman and a dog in the snow.
