Over the last year there has been much mystery surrounding the future of the James Bond franchise.
Fans and bookmakers have speculated over who could replace Craig, who said, “I’d rather slit my own wrists” than reprise 007.
However last month the official James Bond social media pages on Facebook and Twitter confirmed that the 25th movie would be released in November 2019.
Craig wasn’t announced, but various leaks have said it’s basically a done deal – but was it always?
Now The Sun is claiming Craig did a U-turn on quitting after hearing that Mendes wouldn’t be returning.
Supposedly “creative differences” between the two were threatening their friendship when filming Spectre, the latest Bond movie.
A source said: “Daniel and Sam were best buddies when they first started working together and you would constantly see them laughing and joking.
“But after filming had been going on for a while, things started to change.”
The source continued: “There were a few areas in which they had very different creative opinions and their friendship did become strained.
“There were jokes that you could cut the atmosphere between them with one of Bond’s knives.
“Both are hugely respected and were never unprofessional. They played their parts brilliantly and produced one of the best Bond films. But it wasn’t the easiest of times for them.”
James Bond 25 will be released in UK cinemas in early November 2019.
