James Bond SHOCK: 007 producers planning Marvel-style shared universe with Daniel Craig?

With its 16th film in Spider-Man Homecoming about to be released, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still going strong.

The Disney-owed property has sparked a wave in Hollywood of shared universe franchise from Warner Bros’ DC Extended Universe to Universal’s Dark Universe.

But what if Sony, MGM and Eon decided to follow the popular (and seemingly bankable) method with the franchise?

Such an idea would be a controversial move and a break from the series’ tradition, but it’s certainly on the rumour mill.

The Tracking Board’s Jeff Sneider claims that the Broccolis, the producer family behind the Bond movies, are game for a shared 007 universe.

The writer for the Hollywood Insider website tweeted: “I’ve heard the Broccolis have caught Universe Fever and would love to explore other corners of the Bond franchise… simultaneously.”

He also claimed that Daniel Craig would return, adding: “I’ve heard he’s coming back, but I guess we’ll see…”

Assuming the Bond producers did embrace a shared universe, there could be solo outings for the likes of Q, Moneypenny and Felix Leiter.

Perhaps there could ever been a team of Bond villains in the vein of Suicide Squad.

Whatever happens, if the rumoured plans did go ahead it would no doubt split opinion among the dedicated Bond fandom.
