ITV Good Morning Britain: Piers Morgan halts show as he HITS OUT at Gary Lineker

Piers Morgan has been involved in yet another Twitter spat, this time over the World Cup 2018.

The Good Morning Britain host found himself in a war of words with Gary Lineker earlier today.

But it seemed Twitter wasn’t a big enough forum for Piers, who brought his spat onto the morning show delaying content.

The pair clashed over last night’s England fixture, which saw the home team storm to victory thanks to Harry Kane’s last minute winner.

Gary shared earlier today to his 7million followers: “Never ceases to amaze me how easy some folk think World Cup football is.

“Have you watched all the so called big teams? It ain’t that easy, especially against tough defensive opposition.

“I suppose those that are so critical haven’t been there, though. Night all.”

It wasn’t goodnight however, as Piers hit back to his 6.5million followers: “Do you feel the same way about people who’ve never been a politician constantly spouting off about politics and telling politicians how inept they are…”

Gary quickly replied: “Many people who have never played have a good understanding of the game and that football at this level is bl***y hard.

“Therefore do feel free to carry on spouting off about politics and telling politicians how inept they are, Tubs.”

The Good Morning Britain host snapped back: “I don’t think you need to have played the game at a high level to know last night’s performance was less than ‘exceptional’. FYI.”

But Piers couldn’t stop there, and brought the debate on to his show.

He was stuck on his phone and it caught the eye of Susanna Reid.

She wondered what he was doing, but Piers simply continued with his criticism of Lineker

“To me, you don’t have to have been in the highest office to understand [how it works].”

The show then went to introduce Geoff Hurst, to which Piers saw the opportunity to take a swipe.

He insisted he would listen to to what he had to say over Gary, as Geoff had won the World Cup before.

Later on the show, Piers and Susanna spoke to Paul Burrell about their recent interview with Thomas Markle.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
