IT movie trailer: Pennywise the Clown REPLACED by Mike Myers’ Cat In The Hat in new parody

The clip was debuted last week and spooked audiences worldwide – but this brilliant send-up is unlikely to have the same effect.

That said, it does at least highlight how creepy Myers’ Cat In The Hat was during the Dr Seuss adaptation.

In fact, given that the Cat only appeared to children and visited them while they were alone, the unnerving parallels are clear.

Since being uploaded on April 1, the new take – uploaded by YouTube account But Without – has amassed a healthy 175,000 views at time of writing.

IT was originally turned into a miniseries in 1990, starring Tim Curry as the chilling clown, Pennywise – who kidnaps and eats children.

Cary Fukunaga was originally attached to this new version, but soon dropped out – although he still has a writing credit on the script.

Mama’s Andrés Muschietti is now in the driving seat for the first half of a planned two-part series.

Bill Skarsgård, meanwhile, is now playing Pennywise.

Last week the trailer smashed records, amassing an incredible 197 million views globally – an all-time high.

The Fate of the Furious was the previous title-holder.

It: Part 1 – The Losers’ Club is out on September 8.
