Is this the sexiest flight attendant outfit? Controversial uniform causes outrage

Flight attendants in Malaysia have been deemed to be dressed too provocatively on certain airlines.

Malaysian Politicians Senator Abdullah Mat Yasim and Senator Megat Zulkarnain Omardin have asked the aviation commission to investigate, according to The Straits Times.

Airlines such as Malindo and AirAsia have been accused, with the outfits being ‘too revealing’.

Firefly, another Malaysian airline has also been included in the discussion.

AirAsia currently have a uniform with white shirts, red jackets and red skirts with a slit, whilst Malindo has a white cardigan and purple patterned maxi skirts.

However, due to their tight-fitting nature, they have caused concern over the impression they may leave on travellers.

During a parliament session this month, Omardin stated: “My wife is worried whenever I fly alone on Malindo or AirAsia. This is a real hassle for me.

“The Malaysian Aviation Commission must really look into this.”

As Malaysia is a predominately Islamic country, it is thought that they should conform to the standards of the region.

Senator Hanafi Mamat warned that it could mean tourists are confused regarding the etiquette in the country, as they are dressed “sexily and disrespectfully”.

Yam also stated that it could “arouse passengers” according to The Straits Times.

Flight attendants are also not allowed to be seen eating on a plane.

A cabin crew member has revealed that they must eat out of sight in the galley whilst inflight.

Quora user Jeremy Thompson explained: “When I worked, we were always told to be discreet when eating and drinking.

“We couldn’t be seen by passengers walking down the aisle eating food or drinking.”
