France’s most famous landmark has become a stomping ground for daredevils.
The Eiffel Tower has opened a new ride set to test the nerves of the most adventurous thrill seeker.
Visitors to Paris can now climb to the second floor of the towering structure and zip line to the ground below.
The zip wire reaches speeds up of to 90km/hr (55mph) as it soars towards the earth.
Perrier – the French sparkling water brand – has organised the attraction and is handing out rides for free.
The terrifying experience – which lasts just one minute – has opened for the last week of the French Open tennis championships.
Dubbed Le Perrier Smash, it was created to give participants an idea of what a ‘smash serve’ feels like. The tennis move often exceeds 200km/hr (124mph).
The zip wire travels for 800 metres (2,625ft) from a height of 115 metres (380ft), landing at the other side of the Champs de Mars park surrounding the tower.
But not everyone can try the extreme attraction – 100 riders were selected from an online draw last week.
They’ll complete their terrifying challenges throughout this week before the men’s tennis final on Sunday.
One participant was filmed zooming towards the earth as he took on the unique experience.
Once he reached the bottom, the rider said: “You have the feeling you are going to die. Then you die.
“You come alive again when you arrive here. It’s amazing. It’s great, it’s amazing.”
The zipwire isn’t the only unique feature at the historic monument.
There’s also a secret apartment hidden at the top of the Eiffel Tower.
Engineer Gustave Eiffel built himself the private space for his access only, back in 1889.
