When James Franco won the Golden Globe Sunday night for Best Actor (Musical or Comedy), more than one home viewer pointed out the gap between the sentiments of his “Time’s Up” pin and the long-circulating whispers about his personal behavior:

With all of that in the air, the New York Times decided to cancel a “TimesTalk” scheduled for tonight with Franco and his brother (and Disaster Artist co-star) Dave. In a statement to THR shortly after the Tuesday afternoon announcement, a Times representative explained, “The event was intended to be a discussion of the making of the film, The Disaster Artist. Given the controversy surrounding recent allegations, we’re no longer comfortable proceeding in that vein.”
Later last night, Times culture writer Sopan Deb added:
Just a reminder: a big public event in New York was cancelled just before Louis C.K.’s Times investigation was published, basically ending his career. Does the Times know something we don’t?
