Honda reveals that 'baby NSX' — it's for 'Gran Turismo Sport'

Honda and Polyphony Digital, the developers of the “Gran Turismo”series, have revealed the new Honda Sports Vision Gran Turismo. It’s a design concept specifically for the “Gran Turismo Sport” video game that launched recently. It’s a sharp, wedge-y looking sports car that’s clearly inspired by Honda’s other sports cars. The nose looks like a narrower, more sweptback version of the one on the S660 kei sports car, and the sharp creases and side intakes look as though they were ripped right off the NSX. For some readers, this car may look familiar for another reason.

As far back as 2015, patent drawings of this very car cropped up on the internet, along with a curious trademark for the name “ZSX.” Of course, not knowing the connection to “Gran Turismo,” the common speculation was that Honda was working on some sort of sub-NSX mid-engine sports car. Another drawing appeared this summer showing the interior, reviving the speculation. But of course, as you can see, the drawings were simply for this video-game car. The bad news: It’s probably not coming to a dealer near you. The good news: You can drive it in your living room.

It should be an entertaining drive in-game as well. Its fictional stats reveal it has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making about 404 horsepower at 7,500 rpm. We wonder if it’s a hopped up version of the Civic Type R engine. Power goes through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. It also doesn’t have much vehicle to carry around either, with a curb weight of 1,982 pounds.
