The surgeon has been keen to play their romance down but attempts to take their relationship to the next level when she books them a break away from Holby.
Unfortunately, she is left disappointed when Matteo (played by Christian Vit) blows her off and claims he has to return to Berlin to sort out his old flat.
Jac (Rosie Marcel) quickly becomes suspicious of her beau and begins to suspect there is more to his trip to Germany than meets the eye.
As he takes a number of calls from Berlin, she becomes convinced that he is sharing the hospital’s research with his old colleagues.
After further digging into his odd behaviour, she learns he has been hiding a lot more from her.
When Jac confronts him it doesn’t go well and Matteo is left reeling when he realises his secret is out.
What has he been hiding from her and can their relationship survive their latest fall out?
It comes after Gemma Oaten, who stars as nurse Sydney Somers, revealed that while she is only set to appear in two episodes, she would love to continue.
“I’d love to be a regular [on Holby]. From the feedback that I had [it sounds positive] but you’ve just got to leave it in the hands of the Gods,” she told Express.co.uk.
She also teased that there is more drama to come from her character and Fletch (Alex Walkinshaw), hinting: “Expect Fletch to be absolutely gobsmacked when Sydney does walk back into the ward. As far as he’s aware she’s got no more shifts there.”
Holby City continues tonight on BBC One at 8pm.
