Have YOU booked a holiday to the most sought after destination for summer 2017?

If you’re in need of some holiday inspiration to incite your wanderlust, look no further than Pinterest and Airbnb.

The two online giants have revealed the destinations around the world that are most in demand right now.

With over three billion travel ideas pinned to Pinterest and over three million Airbnb listings across the globe, these sites are the experts when it comes to taking a break. And their research yielded some surprising results.

Searches for budget friendly travel has spiked 300 per cent since the start of the year, suggesting Brits are on the hunt for cheap deals.

There are, however, five flights a week from London to Sharm El Sheikh with a stop-over and consequent airline change.

The tourist town has been off limits to British holidaymakers since a plane from Sharm el Sheikh to St Petersburg crashed in a suspected terror attack in 2015.

But with sprawling sandy beaches, a warm climate year-round and competitive prices, travellers have voted Sharm as an ideal holiday destination.

It would be worth noting there is a ‘very likely’ terror risk in Egypt; the authorities maintain a significant security presence across the country. Extra measures are in place at tourist sites.

Tenerife featured next on the list, followed by Courcheval in France.

Kyoto in Japan, Bora Bora in Polynesia and New York City made an appearance too.

Rounding out the top 10 was Santorini in Greece and Spain’s Barcelona.

The sunny Spanish city’s extreme popularity with tourists has prompted authorities to launch a ban on new hotel openings in a bid to control the influx.
