Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain will tour Britain in new BBC Two cookery show

Nadiya’s British Food Adventure, will see the 31-year-old head out on a “culinary road trip” in the summer to highlight some of Britain’s most innovative cooking.

The celebrity chef will visit many different regions including the Highlands of Scotland and the coasts of Devon and Dorset in the eight-part series.

She said: “Our country’s regional cuisine is much more than tried and tested traditional dishes – there are quirky and clever food producers out there who are reinventing British food in unique and exciting ways.

“I can’t wait to meet these local food heroes, to find inspiration in the most unusual food stories and unlikely ingredients and then come up with some brand new recipes in the kitchen adding my own special twist.”

The cake connoisseur has proved popular with audiences and drew in 13.4 million people when she won the baking show in 2015.

She also explored her culinary roots in Bangladesh in a two-part television series last year.

But when talking about it in an interview, she was blasted on social media for “misrepresenting” Bangladeshi culture and cuisine and came under fire for making “generalisations” about the country.

“There were no chairs back in Bangladesh and Dad wanted to keep the tradition, so we never owned a dining table,” she told The Guardian.

”The concept of dessert doesn’t exist in Bangladeshi cuisine… I have a senseless love affair with cheese. My mother never bought any because there was none in Bangladeshi cuisine.”

Nadiya’s family come from Sylhet, a north-east city in Bangladesh, which has a population of nearly 500,000 people.
