Grand National 2017: Race-goers opt for plunging necklines baring ALL at Aintree

Race-goers have started to arrive at Aintree Racecourse in Merseyside to enjoy the fun and frivolity ahead of the Grand National race on Saturday.

The official Grand National race will take place on Saturday at 5.15pm but that hasn’t stopped glamorous women descending on a day of races ahead of this wearing their finest outfits.

Blue appears to be the go-to colour for the snazzy outfits with several women opting for different hues.

One tanned race-goer wore a light blue ra-ra skirt dress with a beige fascinator and matching stilettos.

Attracting a wealth of attention as she walked toward the racecourse the young woman agreed to pose for pictures before heading inside.

Another race-goer opted for a royal blue frock with matching headwear – and chunky black heels and a matching clutch bag.

Heading inside with friends, the women all seemed in good spirits ahead of a day of horse racing.

Today is the first day of racing at Aintree – known fondly as Liverpool Day – followed by Ladies’ Day on Friday April 7.

While the racecourse is a hive of activity today, on Saturday the event will be filled to the rafters with horse-racing fans ahead of the big race.

The Grand National has a total prize fund of £1 million with the victor taking home the grand prize of £561,300.

Last year jockey Dave Mullins raced to the finish line first on top of the aptly named winner Rule The World.

The race itself involves two laps of a challenging four-mile race track with 16 fences for the horses to jump over.

For the first time ever, ITV will air the Grand National races with presenter Ed Chamberlin at the helm.

ITV’s live coverage will also be broadcast on the ITV Hub and ITV.com/Racing. Mobile punters can also download the ITV Racing app on iOS and Android.
