Graham Norton cancelled: BBC chat show taken off air – here’s why

The Graham Norton Show was missing from Friday night’s TV schedule as Children In Need took over BBC One. The chat show host welcomes a host of celebrities guests every week but fans hoping to tune in to his chat show will have to wait till next week to see their favourite host grill celebrities. Viewers could still get their Graham fix as he was one of the many presenters hosting last night’s fundraising extravaganza.

Graham was joined by Mel Giedroyc, Ade Adepitan, Tess Daly, Tom Allen and Marvin and Rochelle Humes as they took turns in hosting the fundraising event.

But The Graham Norton Show fans shouldn’t be too disappointed as Children In Need includes a special segment from the cheeky host’s show.

The Red Chair was taken over by a host of young carers who have the power to flip the celebrities whose jokes fail to hit the mark.

Graham joined Children In Need’s presenting team in 2016 following the death of long-time host Sir Terry Wogan.

Sir Terry fronted the show every year from its first appearance in 1980 but pulled out in 2015 due to ill health.

Kicking off the show was a performance from Big the Musical, featuring Strictly Come Dancing champion Jay McGuiness.

However this wasn’t be the only dose of Strictly as viewers got to see a bunch of EastEnders star take to the dance floor.

Patrick Truman star Rudolph Walker, Stuart Highway star Ricky Champ, Ruby Allen star Louisa Lytton and Tiffany Butcher star Maisie Smith all strutted their stuff on the dance floor.

In a heartwarming segment they surprised children from the England Amputee Football Association.

Meanwhile, Countryfile fans saw the presenters “as you’ve never seen them before”.

There was also a pop-star special of BBC’s quiz show The Hit List.

Girls Aloud and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star Nadine Coyle and Blue’s Antony Costa tested their knowledge in the segment.
