He’s a Michelin star chef who features on some of the world’s most highly regarded cooking programmes including The F Word, Hell’s Kitchen and Masterchef.
But there is one type of food Gordon Ramsay refuses to eat.
The TV chef has clocked a staggering 3.4 million air miles due to his extensive plane travel, but he’d rather go hungry sky-high.
He told Refinery29: “There’s no f****** way I eat on planes.
“I worked for airlines for ten years, so I know where this food’s been and where it goes, and how long it took before it got on board.”
The 50-year-old has enough air miles to fly around the equator 136 times without paying a penny.
But he’ll always be sure to fill up on food at the airport before boarding.
Thankfully Ramsay has his own restaurant to eat at when flying from London’s Heathrow.
Currently undergoing a transformation, Plane Food in terminal five serves up first class British-inspired dishes.
When he’s not flying from terminal five, the dad-of-four prefers to keep it light.
Preferring to dine at an Italian-style bar, he said: “A nice selection of Italian meats, a little glass of red wines, some sliced apples or pears with some parmesan cheese, I’m like a pig in s***.”
After his extensive work history in the airline industry, Ramsay said his problem with plane food is that it’s “overcooked”.
