He said at the start of the show: ”Before we begin, I’d like to apologise for the technical fault that occurred during last night’s show.
“For some reason, we were mysteriously taken off air for a few minutes. We’re still trying to find out what caused it, but so far, all we found is this image from the backstage security cameras.”
The audience then erupted into laughter as a picture of Jamie Oliver pulling a plug was shown on the screen.
The father-of-four has so far received mixed reviews from viewers about his appearance but many have enjoyed Gordon’s digs at the rival chef.
One fan wrote: “@GordonRamsay is just sheer brilliance on the @ITVNightlyShow. This needs to be a permanent move. The Jamie Oliver gags are poetic.”
“Gordon Ramsay roasting Jamie Oliver is the best thing I’ve ever seen #thenightlyshow,” commented another.
One viewer wanted Gordon to have a permanent position, they said: “@GordonRamsay nails the Nightly show like no-one else has, please keep him it’s fun to watch now #thenightlyshow.”
