Most people assume that Google Maps lists every single street, city and country around the world.
But there some mysterious places that don’t appear as they should.
Five of the most mysteriously blurred-out places were revealed by Youtube user, Dark5, in a video.
The information was uploaded in June 2016, and has been a viral sensation ever since. Express.co.uk researched the places across the globe and lists them below.

In the middle of the Mohave Desert, California, is a large airstrip and military testing site known as Junction Ranch.
Part of the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, it’s believed people are working on “black” drone projects in the area.
Everything looks as it should on both Google Maps and Bing maps – except for one area next to the runway.
On Google, one little section is scratched out, whilst Bing have blanked out the whole area.

Google Maps reportedly censored the island with a black box before smudging it out; on Bing the island is still searchable

Sandy Island – a small island in the Coral Sea, off the Australian coast was supposedly discovered by Captain Cook.
It had been on the maps since the late 1800s, when of all a sudden, it disappeared.

In 2012 the island was officially “undiscovered” after a research ship could not find anything at those co-ordinates.
The question remains, what exactly did Captain Cook discover and did this phantom island really disappear?

Secret places: Both Google Maps and Bing Maps have masked an area in the mountains
Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Siberia
In the wilderness of Russia’s Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, there is area that has mysteriously been masked on Google Maps.
Satellite imagery of terrain from the surrounding area, near Egvekinot, appears to have been copied and pasted over the region.
This cut and paste job can be seen more clearly on Bing maps where mountains inexplicably turn into flat forest.
According to the Youtube video, Russian maps use a black box to cover up this area.
Rumours as to what could be in that area include a Russian HAARP site, a ICBM testing facility or even a massive gold deposit.

Secret places: Both Google Maps and Bing Maps have covered up a peak in Nepal called Snow Saddle

At 22,000 feet high up in the frozen Himalaya mountains is a place called Kangtega – also known as the Snow Saddle.
The first known climb to the icy peaks was recorded in 1964. The whole mountain top area in Google Maps is blacked out. Checking out the area on Bing Maps, it’s pixelated when you zoom in.
The video alleges secret Nazi expeditions reached the peaks during World War II, where they discovered a UFO base and testing site.
It’s believed the area is pixellated to stop the public spotting a secret entrance and investigating the area, which is known for the vast number of supposed UFO sightings.

Secret places: An area off the coast of Greenland, referred to as a Broken Arrow site, is pixelated
Broken Arrow, Greenland
The Broken Arrow site – a US military term describing an accident involving a nuclear weapon – is highly pixelated on Google maps in comparison to the surrounding area.
The US Air Force reportedly ran a highly classified operation – referred to as the Chrome Dome – on the site at the height of the Cold War.
It’s believe there was an accident involving one of the nuclear weapons which left several members of the military working on the base at the time with radiation poisoning.
The reasoning for the pixelation has never been confirmed.
