Created to bring word travel to the general public, Google Earth allows users to search the globe in a few clicks of a button.
Using footage collected by satellites, the entire world can be viewed from thousands of miles away.
From the snowy scenes in Antartica to the great open desert plains of Death Valley in America, Google has uncovered some of the world’s greatest natural phenomena.
However, it’s not just the wonders of the world that have been uncovered. Some users claim the tool has captured evidence of extraterrestrial activity.
Images of the Great Salt Lake in Utah in America have highlighted a strange marking visible on Google Earth. Is there a hidden meaning and who created the spooky symbol?
Two hours from Salt Lake City, a spiral can be seen etched into the ground on the northeastern shore of the Great Salt Lake.
Stretching out across the salt plane, the marking is 1500 ft long and appears to be a perfect spiral.
With nothing else but white salt surrounding the strange mark, the question arises as to what it is doing there.
The spiral first appeared in 1970 before disappearing for three decades.
Emerging once more in 2004, the incredible mark has remained ever since and is a popular tourist attraction today.
Could this be a symbol planned by a alien visitor from beyond our planet?
With the quiet and deserted environment, the Salt Lake would be an ideal location for an alien visitor to attempt to make contact with earth.
The marking has some key features to those associated with alien crop circles. The deserted location and the perfect formation to name just a few.
However, all may not be as it seems for UFO hunters with this section of Great Salt Lake.
The marking is, in fact, the work of American artist and sculpture, Robert Smithson.
Created in 1970 out of mud, salt crystals basalt and dirt, nobody saw the spiral for 30 years.
Remerging in 2004 when the great lake dried, the spiral remained intact.
Previous Google footage is not quite so easily explained.
Spotted in New Castle in Colorado, America, the crop circle is again formed of intricate spiral circles.
Best viewed from a bird’s eye perspective, it’s hard to believe these circles are formed by anything natural.
That leaves two other possibilities, they were either made-made or created by an unnatural force. Although there is no evidence to support either theory, the secluded location poses the question as to why humans would create such a perfect circle maze.
However, when looking at the area now, the circles have gone, leaving the field bare. This strange formation remains one of Google’s spooky mysteries.
