Gloria Hunniford sets to receive an OBE as she celebrates 70 years in showbiz

She began her career as a singer, aged seven, and then became a regular face on TV, fronting shows such Good Evening Ulster and Sunday, Sunday.

More recently, she’s been a regular face on Loose Women, This Morning, Rip Off Britain, Home Away From Home and Food: Truth Or Scare.

Gloria, who will receive an OBE for her services to cancer charities this month, lives in Sevenoaks, Kent, with her husband Stephen Way

She has two sons, 10 grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

“On Saturday I will be heading off early to be interviewed on Radio 4’s Saturday Live show, to promote my new autobiography.

“Normally, I tend to have a quiet weekend, focusing on quality time with my husband and family. So after the radio show, I will head home and, if the weather is good, I will spend time in the garden. I’ll also take my two Cavalier King Charles spaniels for a walk.

“We go out to Hever Castle at the weekend, to put some flowers at my daughter Caron’s graveside, as she rests there. We then go to the pub just across the road called the King Henry VIII.

“I am a huge fan of Strictly Come Dancing, so I’ll be glued to that in the evening. I also love House Of Cards.

“On a Sunday, we’ll read the papers and see family.

“With so many grandchildren we are a bit of a tribe at the moment!

“This weekend I’ll also be panicking about getting myself organised for my investiture on October 13 at Buckingham Palace. I am utterly thrilled to be receiving an OBE.

“On Sunday night I will catch up with emails before watching Victoria.

If I am doing Loose Women, there is always research to do. I’m filming another TV show at Pinewood on Monday and I’ll be on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday. With Rip Off Britain commissioned until 2019, I won’t be retiring any time soon!”
