When the Night King (played by Vladimir Furdik) brought his army of the dead to The Wall, Tormund (Kristofer Hivju) and Beric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer) watched on in horror.
The pair probably weren’t expecting the 700ft ice structure to fall, but that’s exactly what happened when an ice dragon blasted it with blue flames.
If the conclusion wasn’t shocking enough, fans of the HBO show were left reeling as Tormund and Beric’s fates were left dangling on a cliffhanger – quite literally.
Now, Kristopher has opened up about the scene, suggesting there is still hope for the beloved redhead.
The Norweigan actor posted a picture to his 1.2 million Instagram followers, begging fans to “pray” for Tormund and Beric, as he posed along with Richard.
Adding the teasing hashtag “what will happen”, fans of the 38-year-old commented that they are certain he will be around for season eight.
One posted: “You will survive and rise victorious, always,” whilst another added: “You’ll be fine, boss.”
However, with the deadly drop looking almost impossible to survive naturally, Tormund could be seen in action once more – this time as a Wight.
Others seem to think that the dragon only smashed one side of the wall, leaving the heroes to safely escape to the other side.
With the HBO show being notorious for showing every death in a brutal and graphic way, perhaps this ambiguity confirms they will be back for one more outing.
Game of Thrones will return for its eighth and final season.
