After the penultimate season was plagued with spoilers, the HBO fantasy epic is going to extreme measures to ensure none of the stars divulge any information.
Emilia, who plays Daenerys Targaryen in the hit series, has revealed the show has introduced a “strict social media ban” to stop fans figuring out the plot.
Speaking to the Telegraph the 31-year-old said: ”We have a very strict social media ban this year because people need to stop spoiling it for everyone. It’s really frustrating.”
But HBO isn’t just stopping behind-the-scenes Instagram pictures from being posted, as Emilia also confirmed reports the series will shoot multiple versions of the big finale.
She continued: ”They’ve written a number of different endings. So none of the cast know what the actual ending is.
“If there’s ever a leak of any kind, don’t believe it because it’s probably not true.”
The London-born stunner has had a starring role in Game of Thrones since it began in 2011.
And now the newly-dyed blonde has credited playing the Mother of Dragons for helping her develop as a person.
Emilia admitted: ”It’s given me a real insight into what it feels like to be a woman who stands up to inequality and hate.
“And as [Daenerys] has become more empowered as a woman, you can’t hide anymore. You are adding to the voices that are going to make people realise an equal society is what we’re aiming for.”
It is still unknown exactly when the final season will hit TV screens but Sophie Turner (plays Sansa Stark) recently dashed viewers’ hopes that it was coming sooner rather than later.
When asked by Variety if she was excited about season eight premiering next year, she corrected them, noting: “Game of Thrones comes out in 2019.
“We started in October, so we’re maybe like a tenth of the way through. We’ve got six or seven months left.”
Game of Thrones season 8 will return to Sky Atlantic in 2019.
