Game of Thrones season 7: Did Liam Cunningham just reveal the air date?

The actor, who plays Ser Davos Seaworth, told The Independent: “I’ve been disappointing various people around the world because it was meant to come out in April. It’s July now, I think.”

This comes off the back of recent plot developments which demand a darker and more wintery backdrop, meaning the show’s filming schedule was pushed back to later in the year.

Liam added that the wait will be worthwhile, saying: “There’s going to be a launch and something special happening this year for the premiere. The bad news is, there will only be seven episodes and the final season starts [filming] again as far as I know in September.”

Since gaining attention for his comments, the 55-year-old has distanced himself from his alleged air date, posting on his Twitter account: “Davos doesn’t know date. Mongo only pawn in Game Of Thrones #gameofthronesseason7.”

This follows recent speculation fuelled by IMDb which suggested that the first episode of season seven will air “25 June 2017”.
