However, her dreams were dashed when lover and nephew Jon Snow (Kit Harington) killed her after watching the Mother of Dragons burn much of King’s Landing to the ground.

Her dead body was picked up and carried away by her remaining dragon Drogon and the last fans heard of his whereabouts was he had flown East.

So far, many viewers believe this has hinted he is taking her to her final resting place presumably in Old Valyria.

However, in a shock twist, it seems Drogon may have actually been taking her to someone not somewhere.

Fans saw Daenerys emerge from the burning funeral pyre of Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) in season one and from a burning hut of Dothraki in season six.

It wasn’t until the season eight finale it seemed Daenerys could be killed but maybe she isn’t dead.

Viewers will remember Red Priestess Kinvara (Ania Bukstein) visited the Great Pyramid of Mereen in season six to meet with the Khaleesi but was told to leave by Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage).

Deanerys was currently with the Dothraki so couldn’t meet with Kinvara anyway but something she said to Tyrion and Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) hints Daenerys could have been resurrected.

She told the pair: “Daenerys Stormborn is the one who was promised. From the fire she was reborn to remake the world.

“Daenerys has been sent to lead the people against the darkness in this war and in the great war still to come.”

Daenerys did not have the chance to “remake the world” or “lead the world against darkness” as she was murdered before ruling Westeros.

So could this be a big clue that Drogon was taking Daenerys’ body so his mother could be resurrected in a similar way to how Jon was brought back to life by Melisandre (Carice Van Houten).

Fans know Jon was killed when the men of the Night’s Watch turned on the Lord Commander and Melisandre was tasked with resurrecting him.

With Jon and many of Daenerys’ allies turning against her, could her death mirror that of Jon’s and see her return for revenge or to take the throne from Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright?

With season eight being the final of the series it seems fans may never know what really happened to Daenerys’ dead body.

It comes after Melisandre star Carice revealed she saw her character’s past as a “mystery” as she wasn’t provided with much detail.

“I really like to figure everything out – that’s mostly how I work, and I ask a load of questions normally. But in this case that was really hard,” she told The Wrap.

“There are books, but I didn’t want to trust in those, so I stuck to the scripts.

“But every time I wanted to know something about what was going to happen, they couldn’t tell me much. So she was quite a bit of a mystery to me as well. I learned to enjoy not knowing.”
