With the October 31 deadline looming, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has just a matter of weeks to come up with a deal for the UK to leave the EU. It’s been over three years since the referendum took place and ongoing negotiations have left many frustrated. Now, Question Time host Fiona Bruce has opened up on tense debates on the show as the public wait to find out if the country will leave with a No-Deal.
Speaking to Radio Times about the current political climate, Fiona exclaimed: “Brexit can tend to be a dialogue of the deaf.
“On Question Time I’ve noticed great anger from the audience.
“When we discuss Brexit, emotions range from white-hot fury to cold, grey apathy.
“As soon as we move off Brexit, debate is much more nuanced and considered.”
Despite the many changes and renegotiations, Fiona insisted she found Brexit “riveting”.
While her friends find it “tiring,” the presenter loves the “twists I could never foresee”.
However, she admitted she spends a lot of time “swotting” to stay up to date.
“So much of Brexit has come bogged down in process, and some people love to get right down into the weeds of all that. But that way lies madness.”
The presenter said she tries to focus on something other than politics after hosting the BBC One show.
Instead of going over what was said, she sits down to watch “something that’s a million miles away from all that”.
Fiona credits Poldark, Call the Midwife and Derry Girls as the shows able to help her relax.
