It seems the duo – who play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the franchise – really do get along like a house on fire.
Behind the scenes footage shows them joking around in-between takes, while interview snippets see them talking very highly of one-another.
The clip, above, has been released in preparation for Fifty Shades Darker’s release on DVD and Blu-ray on June 26, and digital download from June 5.
In one shot, Johnson is seen jokily putting on an Australian accent, while in another they seem to be goofing around between steamy kissing shots.
“The great thing about Dakota is only she knows what I’m going through, and only I know what she’s going through,” Dornan says.
“We both really need each-other through this process – because there’s days where it’s not that easy and a lot’s been asked for us.”
Johnson concurs: “We have this friendship that we built around trusting each-other. We got to know each-other based around the fact that I needed him to be protective of me.
“I needed him to be able to tell when I’m uncomfortable and when things are too heightened and too emotional.
“When I can’t deal with it anymore, I need him to be able to see it in my face and protect me in a way.”
Bonus features on the Blu-ray will include a chat with director James Foley, a look at the new characters, and an intense look at the intimate world of the story.
The DVD and Blu-ray will both boast a featurette with EL James and Niall Leonard talking about the history of the book, and a teaser for Fifty Shades Freed.
Fifty Shades Darker was a box office success upon its release last month, despite poor reviews from critics.
Dornan has since started work on a new Robin Hood film.
