Macedonia’s Jana, and the millions viewing, watched as her boyfriend Aleksander got down on knee and asked her to marry him in scenes that were sure to warm the hearts of Europe.
While the singing competition has seen some pretty remarkable things over the years, this was arguably one of the show’s most romantic moments in history.
And the proposal arguably couldn’t have come at a better time given that Jana failed to make it through to the coveted final.
Despite impressing with her performance, it seemed it wasn’t enough to earn her a place in the final 25.
Nevertheless, the singer was sure to find comfort in her boyfriend’s proposal, as did the countless fans watching.
“Congrats to Jana and Aleksander – 1st marriage proposal in #Eurovision history! #MKD #CelebrateDiversity #Macedonia #ESC2017,” one fan wrote alongside a snap of the tender moment.

However, there were those who felt the timing of the proposal a little awkward, as one wrote: “Marriage proposal on the #Eurovision for #MKD… awkward enough if she doesn’t get through now and that’s what she remembers her proposal as.”
