Eurovision 2017 BACKLASH as Montenegro favourite fails to make it through to grand finale

Slavko Kalezic represented his country by singing new song Space at the first semi-final in Kiev.

The performer was compared to 2014 winner Conchita Wurst for his gender-bending routines.

His song, Space, features lyrics which challenge traditional, binary notions of gender and comes with a music video featuring Slavko wearing a long blue skirt and a Beyoncé-style long ponytail.

Failing to win a place in the final, fans were left distraught and took to social media to rant at the scoring system.

One viewer tweeted: “MONTENEGRO DESERVED TO BE THERE THEY UNDERSTOOD THE CONCEPT OF EUROVISION Y’ALL LET THEM DOWN #escita #Eurovision #esc2017.”

“#Eurovision No Montenegro or Finland into finals?! I’m out,” posted another.

A third noted: “Everyone: ‘too many ballads’. Fun, energetic, catchy Montenegro don’t qualify??? #Eurovision.”

“Can we get Montenegro dancing in the back during every ballad? 100% sure it’d make it better #eurovision,” wrote a fourth.

However, one viewer offered an alternative outcome for Montenegro.

The fan posted: “Please let a repeat of the Oscars happen in which they tear the final place from Belgium’s hands and present it to Montenegro #Eurovision.”

Another couldn’t see what all the fuss was about and said: “Get over it. Montenegro wasn’t that good. It’s about singing, not playing helicopter with your hair! #Eurovision.”

Eurovision 2017 continues with the second semi-final this Thursday on at 8pm.
