Speaking to Express.co.uk as the movie is released on DVD and Blu-ray, DeVille Vannik explained how important it is for stunt performers to have a strong rapport with the actors they’re working with.
Fortunately, Hawke wasn’t a disappointment.
“Sometimes you have a better rapport with your actor than other times – but it is essential to have a good rapport because you’re not just doing their action, you’re also embodying them,” Vannik explained.
“You’ve got to sell, in order to sell the character you need to understand the way they move, the way they carry themselves.
“It’s not just about action and movements, it’s about making it look like that exact actor and character that’s doing it. So it’s important to have a relationship with them.”
He added: “Ethan is a pretty easy-going guy – and we got along well. So that was definitely a good thing.”
24 Hours to Live is a relentlessly fast-paced thriller, and it seems Hawke was happy to do his own share of stunt work.
“There was a fair bit of action but Ethan also did a fair bit of his own action which was really great to see,” Vannik said.
“It’s always fantastic when you have an actor who is well versed in action and has a good understanding of it, so it was a good team work effort.”
24 Hours to Live is sci-fi thriller about a man, a former assassin, who is brought back to life for 24 hours.
