Emmerdale's Charlie Hardwick reveals she almost DIDN'T leave ITV soap due to THIS gaffe

The actress, who left the ITV soap in 2015, revealed that filming circumstances almost meant that she stayed on a bit longer.

Fans will remember that the loveable character was brutally killed in a hall of mirrors when she was fatally pierced by a large pane of glass.

The 56-year-old explained: “They had to mock up a guillotine and it took so long they had to call time.

“We tried twice and then they had to schedule in another day and when they tried it a third time, it didn’t work again!

“I stood up and said, ‘That’s it – it’s a reprieve, I’m not going to die’,” Charlie revealed.

The northern actress also added that she felt she could not watch her death scenes for “ages” after her Emmerdale exit, saying it was too hard.

However, she is glad in a way that she has left the show as she has now moved on to enjoy a successful theatre career.

“It was my decision to go, but I didn’t know it was going to be like that,” Charlie joked.

She continued: “I miss the people but [I’m happy now], I’m doing theatre.”

Emmerdale continues tonight on ITV at 7pm.
