The ITV soap’s harrowing “Who killed Emma?” storyline continued to perplex fans as Adam (played by Adam Thomas) was arrested for her murder on tonight’s gripping instalment.
But some fans were stopped in their tracks when they spotted an unusual newspaper board on the village street.
The Hotten Courier frontpage appeared to read: “Phallic cloud…” but frustratingly the next two words were obscured.
Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) conveniently stood in front of the amusingly placed board as she had a conversation with Eric Pollard (Chris Chattel) and his fellow member of the local council.
Some eagle-eyed viewers took to Twitter to debate the exact headline written on the prop.
“@emmerdale @ITV what’s this headline??? #emmerdale,” one person wrote.
Another added: “What’s the rest of the headline…phallic means penis, right? #emmerdale #itv”
Some fans enjoyed the seemingly cheeky placement however, especially amid the difficult atmosphere in the village following Emma’s (Gillian Kearney) death.
“Someone on the @emmerdale team has a sense of humour. I’m dying to know what competition the phallic cloud won,” one person wrote.
Meanwhile, Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) was convinced she knew who Emma’s killer was, as she told her boyfriend: “Whoever killed Emma put that in your car, that’s the only thing that makes sense.
“And since Cain was trying to help you out, however stupidly the question is, was it Pete or was it Ross?”
