Just minutes in, viewers were left gobsmacked by a saucy moment that saw the youngster discover Carly’s sex toy stash after rifling through her moving-in boxes.
“What’s that?” the youngster asked with a giggle, before Marlon (played by Mark Charnock) gasped in horror and quickly slammed the lid.
“Sorry, I completely forget I had it,” Carly (played by Gemma Atkinson) retorted with a smirk. “Won’t need it now though, will I?”
But the gorgeous brunette didn’t respond well to Marlon’s suggestion that she get rid of the naughty gadget, as she quipped: “I’m not throwing it away, you don’t know when it’ll come in handy!”
Unsurprisingly, the provocative scene gathered quite the storm on social media, with one tweeting: “Did #emmerdale just do a reference to a sex toy?!?”
“Oh @emmerdale #emmerdale Really??? Poor parents explaining things to their kids!! Move the show to 9pm and just have them s**gging,” another blasted.
“Did they seriously just have a child find a dildo on #emmerdale,” a further seethed.
Others managed to see the funny side, however, with one enthusing: “I take it that was a vibrator #Emmerdale,” punctuated with a series of laughing emojis.
“I wonder what that was Carly #Emmerdale,” laughed another.
