The soap star, who left the long-running ITV series earlier this year, revealed that she would never say never to reprising her role as Carly Hope.
However, if she were to hang up her dancing shoes and head back to Emmerdale, it would be on one condition.
“It was left open and they’re an amazing bunch,” Gemma told OK! magazine when quizzed about a potential return.
“So as long as the storylines are right and it fits in with everyone, of course I would.”
While the actress may not be learning lines anymore, she noted that she still speaks to her fellow cast mates.
“I’ve stayed in touch with all of them – and I’m still in the Emmerdolls [band]!” the 32-year-old said. “I speak to Mark Charnock, who plays Marlon Dingle, a lot.”
Gemma also told the publication that there was no truth in the rumours that she has struck up a romance with Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Gorka Marquez.
She insisted that her claims the “Strictly curse” is blessing were a joke and she is happy being single.
“The last thing I’m looking for right now is a boyfriend. I’m happy to be the crazy dog woman with meals for one,” Gemma explained.
“I live with Norman who is a Sproodle and Olly, a working cocker spaniel. They’re like my kids, I even throw birthday parties for them.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV at 7pm.
