Emmerdale has been tackling the controversial and charged issue of teacher/child grooming.
The ITV soap is currently showing youngster Jacob Gallagher (played by Joe Warren-Plant) falling for his teacher.
However, it seems Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein) has been playing the game as well, and has been flirting back with him.
Viewers were completely horrified last night to see her seemingly leading on Jacob.
The pair got very close when Maya lied to boyfriend David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) about how she didn’t want Jacob to ever feel left out.
Knowing full well he has feelings for her, she insisted she wanted to go and play video games with him.
They were happy together and Jacob thought things were going well with his teacher.
But things took a tun for the worse when he saw her kiss his father goodnight.
What’s more, Maya played some games of her own telling Jacob she enjoyed spending time with the teenager.
She added how she misses not seeing him more.
Viewers were furious to see her lead on little Jacob in such a cruel way and flocked to Twitter to comment on it.
But some thought there was confidence in her approach, wondering if she had groomed a teenager before.
One wrote: “That Jacob and Maya scene. Yikes!! She def knows what she’s doing.”
Another added: “Wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t the first time Maya has groomed someone… but who is next on the list after Jacob?”
A third shared: “Maya telling Jacob she’s never seen him as a kid is quite chilling. I don’t think this is her first rodeo.”
Things will get worse around Christmas time as well.
The pair will share another kiss in the coming week but they will almost be caught.
Although David manages to avoid seeing anything, the close call certainly sends shivers down their spine.
Will they carry on with their creepy affair regardless?
