After Belle Dingle (played by Eden Taylor-Draper) was made aware of her boyfriend’s antics with a prostitute, Lachlan (Thomas Atkinson) left her a voice message confirming he was leaving the Yorkshire village for good.
“I’m guessing you still don’t want to talk to me,” he sighed. “That’s fine but I meant what I said: My life means nothing without you, so I guess this is a goodbye.”
However, after hanging up the phone he picked up a drill and fans immediately panicked as they predicted what he might do next.
“So I guess Lachlan is going after Aaron too,” speculated one audience member, as another pleaded: “Can Lachlan just do something crazy and dramatic and please die in the process. Like set fire to home farm? Please? Pretty please?”
A third asked: “That looks like we have seen the last of Lachlan Emmerdale????|”
“Rise killer Lachlan #emmerdale,” cheered one more, which was followed by: “Don’t do anything silly Lachlan @emmerdale.”
The drama comes ahead of the White family’s big exit, which boss Iain MacLeod promised will be “spectacular”.
“There’s been speculation there could be a death as part of their exit story,” he told TV Times. “But I don’t want to reveal too much.
“We are doing something spectacular in January and the Whites will be a major part of that.”
He added: “It’ll be one of the most intense roller coaster months we’ve ever had.”
