Gerry (played by Shaun) found himself at the mercy of Lachlan (Thomas Atkinson) earlier this evening on Emmerdale.
An accident at the B&B left him unable to move as he was trapped under a heavy beam.
And what’s more, once Lachlan had escaped his own pile of rubble, Gerry only had the villain to help him.
With Lachlan wanting to get rid of him months ago, it seemed there was no way Gerry was getting out of the collapsed building alive.
The heart wrenching scenes saw Gerry beg for his life as he cried about how much pain he was in.
But Lachlan showed no sign of remorse as he finished off Gerry by dropping a big stone on his head, killing him.
In light of his character’s brutal death, Shaun has opened up on the scenes, describing them as “upsetting”.
“Well it was a shock, because I was only ever meant to come here for the two episodes in the prison with Lachlan and then I ended up staying here for a year and a half.
“So I really got used to being around everybody, made a connection with everybody, and then to be told that was going to come to an end, it was pretty upsetting.”
What’s more, the intricate death scene took a long time to film, according to Shaun.
The moment also featured many comedic moments – all which upset viewers even more.
The 20-year-old actor said: “I think that’s just typical of Gerry, isn’t it?
“Whatever situation he’s in, he always finds a way to make someone laugh or make someone smile.
“Lying on that floor for three days was quite uncomfortable so that alone was a challenge in itself.
“But working with Tom and the director and the guys we were working with were all brilliant and they made it so comfortable and a lot easier for me to do my own thing.”
Meanwhile, viewers were completely devastated at their loss as they flocked to Twitter to pour out their grief.
One said: “WHY DID GERRY HAVE TO DIE?”
Another added: “He sure is Gerry didn’t deserve any of that ? Will Lachlan ever get his commupance!!”
A third cried: “Aww c**p, they actually killed off Gerry.”
