Carly fled Emmerdale with her ex-boyfriend Matt, leaving Marlon Dingle (played by Mark Charnock) completely shattered.
However, just months after her departure for the ITV soap, Gemma, 32, exclusively revealed to Express.co.uk that she will be gearing up for her Emmerdale comeback after her stint on Strictly Come Dancing.
“Carly will go back but I’m not sure when,” she confessed, adding that she merely has one request after Strictly: “I want a holiday.”
Gemma also stressed that her appearance on Strictly Come Dancing had nothing to do with her Emmerdale exit.
“I found out about three months after we’d officially announced [my exit],” she explained. “It was kind of the radio people I had to say, ‘Look Strictly’s come up’ and they said, ‘Yeah go for it.’
“I mean, after Emmerdale I did the Key 103 and I’ll be there for a while because I love it. Everything’s happened at the right time.”
On Saturday night, Gemma’s Strictly Come Dancing partner was finally announced as she teamed up with Aljaž Škorjanec, 27.
However, she’s already been romantically linked to Gorka Marquez, 27, after it was reported that she was the only Strictly star, including his partner Alexandra Burke, to have been invited to the dancer’s birthday meal.
“They couldn’t keep away from each other at group rehearsals. Gorka even invited Gemma to his birthday meal and they sat together the whole night,” a source told The Sun.
“There is definitely something developing – everyone can see there’s an obvious attraction.”
Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on ITV while Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on September 23.
