Emmerdale spoilers: Cain Dingle star spills all on death of ‘well-loved’ character

In upcoming scenes in Emmerdale, one character’s life will come to a tragic end following a “shock incident”.

While bosses at the long-running ITV soap have remained tight-lipped over the death, the cast opened up about the moment.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk at the BAFTA TV Awards tonight, Cain Dingle star Jeff Hordley revealed it came as a surprise.

When pressed for details, he laughed: “I probably can’t tease anything because we’ve got the press officer really staring daggers at me just there. Somebody dies.”

His co-star Charlotte Bellamy, who stars as Laurel Thomas, added: “Somebody does die, it’s a bit of a shock.”

Meanwhile, Zoe Henry who plays Rhona Goskirk, wrote: “It’s a well-loved character.”

“It was a surprise to us,” Jeff continued.

The actor went on to confirm that another major character returns to the Dales.

“Yes, that possibly is my department,” he commented. “That’s very exciting, that’s all I can say. It’s slightly emotional.”

Sally Dexter, who stars as his on-screen mother Faith Dingle, chipped in: “As ever, I do my best to help but sometimes that falls on deaf ears.”

“Yes mother does stick her oar in, not to great effective,” Jeff continued.

Charlotte noted: “It’s a very brave storyline isn’t it.”

“It’s something which is new and needs telling,” Sally shared.

Fans have been busy speculating which character could be killed off in upcoming Emmerdale episodes.

Many believe that Gerry Roberts (played by Shaun Thomas) will be the one to die.

The youngster is set to learn the truth about Lachlan White’s (Thomas Atkinson) involvement in the White family car crash earlier this year.

Could Lachlan kill his best friend as he fears that his secret will be revealed?

Meanwhile, Ross Barton (Mike Parr) looks set to get into a scuffle in upcoming scenes.

Is Ross the “well-loved” character who will perish?

Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV at 7pm.
