The shrewd businessman (played by Ryan Hawley) looked gobsmacked as Aaron (Danny Miller) said he was departing from the village and life with his family for a while.
Despite Robert’s protests and attempts to convince him to say, his partner’s mind seemed to be made up and Aaron was seen getting a lift from Adam Barton (Adam Thomas).
“We’re almost perfect and we can be again,” Robert told Aaron through tears in a desperate bid to stop him from leaving.
Aaron tearily told his husband: “Not now, we can’t be. It’s all gone that. I hate myself for not being able to handle all this, Rebecca and the baby. It’s just the way it is.”
He explained that by staying in the Yorkshire Dales and not seeking out help would simply making him worse.

The sad scenes come as Aaron was seen struggling with his mental health and even self-harming as he tried to cope with everything and even resorted to taking the drug Spice.
There was also an outpouring of grief on social media from fans of the ITV soap, who found the storyline too much.
One Emmerdale viewer wrote: “NOO AARON COME BACK WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITHOUT AARON IN THE VILLAGE? @DannyBMiller #Emmerdale.”
As a second added: “It’s all gone that now… @DannyBMiller heartbroken doesn’t even cover it #Robron #emmerdale.”

Meanwhile, tonight’s episode finished on a worrying cliffhanger as it appeared Pierce Harris’ mother (Elaine Claxton) was spying on Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) again as a hidden figure was seen taking snaps of the vet.
However, it looks like Martha is working on behalf of evil lawyer Pierce (Jonathan Wrather) as she took photos of Rhona hugging her ex-husband Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) before going to sleep.
Could she be gathering damning evidence to destroy the rape case against Pierce?
