WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE HOLIDAY?

A houseboat holiday on Lake Powell in Utah.

It’s like taking a floating caravan out on a lake in the middle of nowhere.

It was a real Huckleberry Finn-type holiday.

It feels like you’ve landed on the moon with nothing around but rocks and mountains.

The scenery is extraordinary and there are these blue-water lakes and you’re captain of your own boat.

It was so out of my comfort zone, that’s why it was memorable.

AND YOUR WORST?

When I decided to take 12 teenagers, my children and their friends to Mykonos.

It was the most overwhelming responsibility.

Mykonos is an island with no road signs.

I was a mixture of a really bad Uber driver and therapist as everyone had issues.

I’d never been to Mykonos before and I had visions of it being like the film Mamma Mia! But it was deeply unrelaxing, an epic stress.

They all had a ball though.

BEST SOUVENIR?

Stationery from Venice.

They have all these amazing little paper shops that do beautiful marbled paper and photo albums.

So I brought back some useless items I don’t need but are beautiful to look at.

BEST BOOK?

One Day by David Nicholls.

It’s about somebody in the TV industry and had a really unexpected ending.

I laughed and I cried.

I love that kind of book.

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR TIME ON HOLIDAY?

I like sightseeing if I’m in a city but if I’m on the beach I’m a complete beach person.

I don’t do lots of terrifying sports, I just hang out.

My biggest thing is I pretend I’m listening to music but really I’m listening to everyone else.

You put your headphones in and jiggle around a bit but basically you’re listening in on other people’s conversations.

WHERE WOULD YOU REVISIT?

Where I went on my honeymoon, Positano, on the Amalfi Coast.

It’s completely beautiful and I have really happy memories of it.

WHERE ARE YOU OFF TO NEXT?

America.

My daughter is at university on the East Coast and my son is about to start on the West Coast, so I am going to be between New York, Long Island and Los Angeles for the summer.

I’ll be settling my son in and it’ll be a mixture of family and work.
