The hitmaker, who previously worked with The Beatles and Robert Palmer, caused a stir on Twitter with her youthful appearance.
The micro-blogging site was inundated with comments about her “amazing” complexion, after host Lorraine Kelly informed that she was 72.
Two users tweeted: “72?! Easily pass for 52 #ElkieBrooks #lorraine,” and: “Elkie Brooks looks amazing #Lorraine.”
A third shocked post continued: “Flippin’ heck, Elkie Brooks is 72-years-old! She looks amazing! #Lorraine.”
“Great to see Elkie Brookes on #lorraine. Still sounds and looks terrific,” another person remarked, while a fifth added: “@ElkieOfficial looking fit for 72! #Lorraine.”
The “British Queen of the Blues” was on the ITV show to promote her new greatest hits album, which is out today.
Remarking on the throwback picture on the cover, Elkie commented: “I’ve aged a little bit since then.”
Lorraine then complimented her and asked if she could reveal how old she was. She said: “I’m proud of being 72, you’d only have to google me.”
On how she stays looking young, Elkie revealed: “I eat well, I’m not fond of meat, I just eat things I really like – fruit and vegetables.
“It keeps you going. You’ve got to be mobile, I have Elkie’s little gym with a skipping rope… it helps the voice.”
