eBay: Rare two pound coin with rare error selling for £1,000 – do you have the SAME one?

Ebay is a platform where rare coin collectors can find those of great value, such as a rare two pound coin selling at the moment.

The coin is said to be more valuable because of a certain rare error which distinguishes it from others.

The World War I commemoration coin is listed for a whopping £1,000 on the buying and selling platform.

Known as the “Sure Shield of Britain” £2 coin, it features a design of a ship with a mast reaching up to the sky.

The sea beneath is choppy with waves, while birds and a plane fly on overheard.

The seller, who has the username dirkdiggler12, has added a description to the coin listing.

The description explains the coin’s rare error is because the text on the edge inscription has been printed the wrong way up.

“This is one of the rarest £2 coins in circulation, making it extremely collectable.

“This particular coin also has a very rare minting that makes the coin even more valuable.

“The edge inscription has been printed upside down. The text should be the correct way up when the Queen’s head is facing up.

“As you can see from the pictures this is not the case.”

“The Royal Mint have explained a little more about the coin’s origin on its website.

“In 2015 The Royal Mint’s programme of commemoration marking the centenary of the First World War continued with a United Kingdom £2 coin honouring the Royal Navy.“

“With a detailed design featuring a mighty battleship, this coin captures the strength of a force whose contribution to victory in the First World War deserves to be remembered.”

Yesterday, it was revealed a rare 50p coin sold for £414 on eBay.

The rare minting error on the coin, which is dated from the 1980s, means it has sold for the huge sum.
