A rare 50p coin has already been bid on eBay for £100, selling for 200 times its worth.
The Beatrix Potter coins were created last year to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the author’s birth.
Known for the beloved characters of Peter Rabbit, the coin shows the famous character on the front in silver whilst clutching his chest in the headshot.
On the other side is the Queen, created by Royal Mint Engraver Jody Clark and was introduced in 2015.
It is no longer available for purchase on the Royal Mail website.
The same coin has been spotted on eBay for as much as £2,500, although it is unclear if any buyers have bid on the price.
Peter Rabbit was featured in colour on an ever rarer coin, which was also announced last year.
The coin is selling on eBay from user ioanmisc-0 with a starting price of £100, which one person has already bid on.
The description simply states: “Good condition. Circulated.” Hilariously, they also include: “Hand not included” in case buyers were concerned.
Recent reviews of the coin state: “These Beatrix Potter covers are getting quite hard to get hold of by the Post Office.”
There is no information regarding its authenticity or plastic case protector for coin fans wanting to make sure it is genuine.
However, with eight hours to go, anyone wanting to add to their rare coin collection will need to make a decision quickly.
Rare Olympic coins are currently being snapped up for £1,500 after a flurry of bids on eBay.
Showing a swimmer submerged in water, the collection was created for the London 2012 Olympics.
Other sports celebrated on the coins were archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boccia and canoeing among other sports.
