EasyJet voted the best value airline for a beach holiday in new survey

EasyJet has beaten Jet2 to the best value airline for money for a beach holiday in a new survey by YouGov in their annual Airline Report.

A selection of airlines were assessed by adults in Great Britain for on whether they provided good or bad value for money.

EasyJet received a Value Score of 39 points, just one point down from last year, meaning it has maintained its position as the best value for money airline among budget beach-holiday bookers.

This result put the low-fare airline streaks ahead of competitors Jet2 and Flybe.

Jet2 came in second place, winning a score of 23, down five points since 2017.

Flybe was polled in third place with a score of just 10, however, the airline is up three points from last year.

Thomas Cook also got a score of 10, but this puts it five points down from 2017.

Virgin Atlantic came in sixth place with a score of nine, one point down from last year.

Amelia Brophy, Head of Brands UK at YouGov said: “EasyJet appears to have escaped the crises that have taken hold at budget-airline rival Ryanair, and remains in a healthy position in the industry.

“We can expect increased competition from Jet2 on this front, as the carrier expands and continues to invest in its marketing efforts.”

The YouGov poll also looked at the impressions the general public have of global airlines.

They were posed the question: “Which of the following brands do you have a vernally positive/negative feeling about?”

Despite experiencing some difficulties over the past couple of years, British Airways just about hangs onto the top spot in this category.

However, BA shares first place with Virgin Atlantic, with both companies lock on a score of 29.

British Airways has in fact seen its score decline by 13 points since 2017. Virgin Atlantic is only down by four points.

Emirates came in third place with 28 points, down by one point since 2017.

Qantas was in fourth position with a score of 18 and Singapore Airlines was fifth with 17 points.

However, despite coming fifth place in the Impression Score, Singapore Airlines ranked number one for the Recommend Score.

Those surveyed were asked: “Would you recommend the brand to a friend or colleague or tell them to avoid the brand?”

Singapore Airlines has a rating of +67, ahead of Emirates which follows closely behind on +65, Air New Zealand (+57), Norwegian Air (+55) and Etihad Airways (+52).

Brophy said: “Singapore Airlines maintains its very strong showing, achieving the magic combination of high satisfaction and recommendation levels.

“With word of mouth still vital to an airline’s success, the carrier is well-placed to capitalise.”

The best flight comparison sites have also been revealed, with Netflight.com coming in first place, beating Expedia.
