EastEnders spoilers: Mel Owen seduces Phil Mitchell in steamy scene – but there's a twist

The pair were involved back in 2000 on EastEnders when they enjoyed a steamy fling while Mel (played by Tamzin Outhwaite) was with Steve Owen (Martin Kemp).

Now, it looks like they will ignite a love affair as tensions run high between their feuding families.

This evening’s instalment of the BBC soap sees the pair get together in the aftermath of Hunter Owen’s (Charlie Winter) devious plan.

After Hunter streamed footage of him taking Louise Mitchell’s (Tilly Keeper) virginity to her father’s phone, Phil (Steve McFadden) was absolutely furious.

The close of Friday’s episode saw Phil grab a baseball bat and head over to the club, ready to teach the teen a lesson.

However, it’s clear when he gets over there, Mel has other ideas.

She’ll do anything to protect her son from Phil’s wrath and so uses her feminine charms to woo him.

Distracting him from revenge, Mel begins talking about their history and Phil can’t help himself.

Photos released by BBC ahead of the episode see Mel perched seductively on her desk while Phil sits in front of her.

The blonde bombshell leans in toward the Mitchell brother, spilling her drink on him in the process.

Mel goes to grab a towel to dry him off, but they are soon distracted and end up in a passionate kiss.

But what will happen when Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) finds out?

She made it very clear she saw Mel as a threat when she laid into her across a family dinner in an episode last week.

Bringing up her lengthy relationship history, Sharon was out to embarrass her husband’s former flame.

Sharon ranted: “She hasn’t got the best history with men. We know about Steve.

“Oh, and then Dan. He was a wrong ’un too though, wasn’t he?

“I suppose there was Ian, but blimey. You made a right cock-up of that, didn’t you?

“And then there was this one [Billy]. As if that was ever going to happen. No offence, Billy. Anyone I’m missing?”

Sharon wasn’t wrong to be suspicious of Mel, but how will she discover the truth?

EastEnders continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
