Christmas Day on EastEnders saw Abi Branning (played by Lorna Fitzgerald) falling from the roof of the Queen Vic, before she was declared brainstem dead.
Abi fell with sister Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) in a ditch attempt to save their depressed father Max Branning (Jake Wood) from taking his own life.
The sisters were rushed to hospital, with Lauren pulling through, while Abi is set to pass away in harrowing scenes this Friday.
Doctors have told Max that nothing can be done to bring her back.
Since then, Lauren has been trying to convince Max to take Abi off of life-support.
However viewers were left surprised and confused whilst watching last night’s episode, as they witnessed a cameo from an old cast member.
During a scene where Max is sitting at Abi’s bedside, he is seen putting an old photo above her bed, clearly grief-stricken.
The family photo included Tanya Branning (Jo Joyner), Oscar Branning (Neo Hall) and Lauren.
However, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that Max’s photo included the original Lauren, played by Madeline Duggan.
Fans ran to social media to comment on the supposed photo mishap.
“The pic max just stuck to the wall of the Brannings was of the OLD Lauren lol #EastEnders,” one commented. With another suggesting: “How they going to have the old cast of Lauren in a family photo? Should have cut that photo part out. #EastEnders.”
While some viewers found it amusing, others found it confusing: “Was that ‘other Lauren’ in the photo on @bbceastenders #EastEnders,” while another asked, “They used a photo with old Lauren? #eastenders.”
Jacqueline announced her pregnancy yesterday ahead of her EastEnders exit, set to air next month.
